I started following the tutorials of Steven Knipping ("Applied Houdini - Volumes 1-6") and here are the results. This is the link to the courses: http://www.appliedhoudini.com/blog/2018/2/16/volumes-complete-package
Note: While I was learning I struggled a lot and IF I was able to find a solution, I documented it here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHKNOUwxyld0UVTIOk4E0zw
In general I must say, that I underestimated how hard it is to generate a good simulation :) Yes, clicking into the Houdini Shelve instantly generates something nice, but if you want to make something different it takes sooooo much time and knowledge to get good results.
The tutorial "Volumes V" was recorded with an older version so I spent a lot time tweaking the smoke as I could not reproduce the results from the tutorial itself.
As the tutorial "Volumes IV" was recorded with an older Houdini Version, I had to tweak the simulation by my own. It took way longer but at the end it was working quiet OK for me.
I followed the tutorial "Volumes II" basically 1:1. Almost now creative Input from my side but it was a great learning experience.
This is almost 1:1 the tutorial "Volumes III" except that I changed the trajectory of the smoke sources.
